The Qi Gong is a set of exercises working with energy (the Qi), based principally on the association of some movements (soft, very slow and relaxed) with an abdominal breathing (regular and deep) and a concentration of the consciousness: the passive intention (Wu Wei: non effort action) which direct the Qi inside the body. Its origin comes from Taoist longevity gymnastic.

The ideogram QI represents the energy of the water vapor which escapes from the marmite in which the rice is cooked, it is also the energy contain in the combustible which nourish the fire, the force of the fire, the heat accumulated, the movement of the water and the boiling rice.
The ideogram GONG represents the word “work”, force or effort used during an action.
So, we can translate “Qi Gong” as “work or action which collects energy to nourish our body and make that energy flow in it”.
The Qi Gong practice is a path of personal blossoming, a source of well being and youth. It combines the relaxation of the mind, the limbering up of the body and a sense of pleasure to move in harmony in the space around us to a deep energy work revitalizing the internal organs.
The goal of Qi Gong is to center our being between the sky and the earth. It allows us to connect with the celestial and telluric energies in order to harmonize our breathing with the universe’s breathing. To harmonize the movement and the breath, the attention is focused simultaneously on the different parts of the body involved in the movement and perceived globally as a unity, in such a way that the movement is never “mechanical” but become “organic”.
Not being based on physical strength neither on performance the Qi Gong is accessible by everybody.
